Righty, since there's plenty of time between now and the next event (and since Heinrich's costume is pretty much complete anyway) I'm going to start slowly doing little bits for my Gnoll secondary. Here's the ideas:

1) The overall feel is going to be a Gnoll version of the Persians from the film 300. Arabian desert soldier since what I gather of Old Bantustan is that it's mostly desert and of the two types of Kangena masks one of the is named "desert gnoll".
2) Does anyone know how to make and wear those head coverings (examples I can find here, here, and I can't find an example where it looks like a twist-ringed around the head and across the face. I know you can use a shemagh/keffiya but not how to get the effect.
3) I'd like to get a set of long and viscious looking dentures for my lower teeth since uppers are represented with the masks. Any ideas where to get or how to make?
4) I'm going to make my own armour. I'm going to go to Le Prevo for the supplies but any idea for patterns or reference? I'd also like to design two quick release body sheathes for short blades and maybe one on the back for my two handed axe. Ideas?
5) I need to bulk out and get taller, or get the same effect without looking comical. I have some platform boots but they're notoriously uncomfortable and would make my feet look like Herman Munster. I want to go subtle but definate rather than OTT on this.
6) Prescription contacts with unsettling effects. What in your opinions are the most unsettling contacts and are they available in prescription?

This is by far the best site I have found for contacts and I am pretty sure they do prescription lenses

Are you possibly thinking of a turban as there are several different ways to wrap them one very similar with a twisted effect then the cloth hanging at the back can be pulled round and over the face and tucked into the other side. For that you need a Rumal which is basically a long piece of cloth. I could probably find out how to wrap one after all it can't be any harder than wrapping a sari.

Sweet (but pricey)! Still, if it's worth doing then it's worth doing well! Recommendations for which ones? Should I go dead and featureless or striking and nightmarish?

Could be. In fact I think it is judging by your description, and if you could that would be fantastic although I don't mind looking myself now I know it's called a Rumal

Bear in mind it is just a piece of cloth presumably the right length etc which you then have to wrap to get the effect. I'm 99% certain I can find someone to teach me. If you can't find a Rumal let me know and I'll see if I can get one here.

Well my Amun Sa wears a keffiya in the style from your photo if you have one quite happy to show you how to wrap it correctly.

Its a little more tricky with the mask on but still very possible.

Hmmmm, the "Berserker" lenses both look how I imagine and even the description matches the character. Although "Cerberus" looks mighty evil, as do the "Incubus" ones. Approved, Nicodemus? Smile

Kamenwati, that's very kind and I'll probably take you up on that offer even if it's just to see which way I prefer. THanks! Very Happy

Personnally I like http://www.reapermadness.co.uk/Pr...ctDetailID=83290&Subcatid=448
over the berserker ones specially if your willing to pay that bit extra.
