Makeing rituals look Flyam looking to spiceing up my sorcery ritualys and make them look nice, what sort of stuff do you recomend.heres my ideas so far: -some form of ground covering with nice patterns on -box to store everything in (decorated and acts as table) -bowl of some kind to burn stuff in -candles -smoke bombs and cencer -bangers ideas and stuff would be great, as ive not done "open" rituals before, and thought this is the right place to ask

For our first ever ritual we took an alter with us. We will have to remember it for the next one!! We also have manna with flashy lights inside so they sparkle and look pretty. We use a book of power, staffs, lots of shouting and sometimes strange stuff in bottles to sprinkle over and around people. Oh yes and a large pentogram floor cloth.
Basically use everything you can. We like big showy rituals

Depends, drums and or chanting always go down well, we even had a fire breather for one ritual, but it all brings attention to you, sorcery rituals should be ok, but most of the necromatic ones just bring unwanted attention, especially when youu carry the skull covered altar through the camp of the DNF while they are doing a supplication

That wasn't one of our best moves really was it!!! Did also get us introduced to Grumf et al though, so something good came out of it

might have to put something in there so its obiouse what magic im casting, wouldnt want DNF to get confuzzed and kill me for casting armour on some one
thats a point, skulls for necromancy, smoke for theurgy, but whats a good symbol for sorcery? |

omg such a kool idea..........if you can get power down to the ritual site,
do the ritual under a strobe light i think it would look amazing.

If any of your guys can do poi then get some illuminated poi, maybe even flashing, would look great from only a little distance away, swirling coloured lights | ||

any descent magic shop type or try online. basicly it gives of a flash of bright, brief flame.
( paper is also fun in the bottom of ashtrays )

Yep, standard magic/theatre prop. just google them and you'll find loads of supliers. hey presto, flames in your hand

Recomend a strong metal box for storage when you do buy. stray sparks and 50 g flash cotton not good

im thinking bog metal boul with some flash wool and some form of sparker, think some pots with smokers in might look good as well.
might have to give a watch to your next ritual for ideas, if thats ok |

Sadly due to the, "look it's a Necromatic ritual ....job 'em" mentalityu in Mael we have toned down our rituals of late, if we can get some house backing then maybe we will up our antin again given the extra protection that wil afford us.
And if you get the right ref, flash ceremonies will grant you some better responce, I think it is expressed in less mana to cast rather than better results. |

are there any definitions of how much each ritual costs? cos variable means you could muck up if you use to little from what i understand. | ||

It's a hard one to define, the variables are too many in my opinion, Good ritual (maybe) strength of site, and how hard the ritual site has been worked so far.
We have drained a few in the past, reducing a 5 point to a 1 point for the remainder of the feastival. (Also doesn't help we havent had a ritual go right so far rules wise) |

At work, so haven't read this thread properly. I can provide pyrotechnics since I'm my airsoft team's "demolitions guy" and make my own grenades/smokes/flares etc.
Anyone want a pyro that burns a specific colour and gives off ghostly smoke? I call them "Wraith 'nades"... they scare the bejeezus out of the folks at the milsims since the smoke (on a clear windless day) just hangs there and gets underlit...

You'll need to clear it with PD and define how your gonna use them cos Pyros are a thing they get all twitchy about, think it is insurance n site use rather than them not wanting the cool looking pyros. | ||

I am doing some research to see if we can get some chemicals to pour around the circle.
Specifically the combination required for glow sticks!! One slight draw back is that they are slightly bio toxic (not as in it touches your skin and you die, but the plants in the circle may be a bit narked off) |

The ones we use, we made ourselves, I think they are made from the stuff you put in vases to make them look nice, our first attempt we used tiny glowsticks to illuminate them, our second attempt we used tiny kids illuminated balls, they were originally covered in rubber and we stripped that off them them stuck the vase filling plastic chips all ovew it, and they can be turned on or off with a squeeze, the really large one is a kids toy with spinning leds in it, that one vibrates too.
(re-reading that it makes almost no sence , you will just have to have a look at one next time, and all should become clear )

Relatively speaking. Yes. BTW I'm sure that there's something in the rules about fireworks and pyrotechnics being banned without prior approval. So might be worth checking with PD if you're planning something particularly extravagent. D'oh just noticed multiple pages on this thread.

thats a good point. i think i might have to talk with PD about it, but i think they should be ok with it. as magicians have used this stuff for years.

just got word back form PD, my ritual idea is ok, as long as i follow the basic premice of the rules
5 mins of role play. use mana, say true names if needed touch targets. im gonna try it and see if it works |

No I was thinking it might be worth going for the $50 box of 72 if there's enough interest.
With postage it's going to be less than $100 I'm guessing, that still works out at less than £1 each. |
