Protest against the propsed ban on swords!The proposed ban on the import, sale and manufacture of swords will have an adverse effect on legitimate practitioners, collectors and manufacturers. Actual sword related crime is very rare and does not warrant a ban that affects the cultural activities of thousands of legitimate martial artists, collectors and smiths. Current legislation is quite adequate to deal with violent crime connected with bladed weapons. New legislation is merely for show. Enforcing such a ban will also affect cultural events such as Scottish Sword Dancing and many Sikh festivals. We urge the PM to reconsider this knee jerk reaction to media influenced scaremongering.
We would appreciate your support on this matter by signing the petition below;

Allready signed it, whats 10 minates against yet another nail in our liberties.
When they say swords does this include fencing weapons?, the national shooting team has to train in Switzerland (I think, somewhere in europe), if foils, epees and sabres ARE covered we can kiss fencing and pentathalon good bye at the 2012 games
When will these dumb bleeders realise that criminals by definition don't obay the law, and that laws like this are only penalising honest people whom might have a reason to own such things for purposes other then to clobber sub-post office workers in order to rob them
And relax

A friend of mine once said quite some time ago "knitting needles are deadly in the wrong hands" I wonder when the government is going to catch on.......... class them as lethal weapons and eventually ban them,
suppose its only a matter of time before some do-gooder tries it. can't imagine the W.I and all the grans out there will be overly keen on the idea.

But the bill got dropped last year.
