if you use 4x2 timbers for the main body and cross brace it, it won't move. if your using a grate, place it over 2x1 floor joists, as you can place these in joist hangers and put them in when needed. these were the main timbers we used for our 2 floor gate house, and that had 8-10 people on top at one point

Although the smoke grenades etc are notoxic you might wat to consider the effect of them on anyone with breathing roblems. EG asthma. I knw that the smoke/mist from a smoke machine doesn't really bother me but some of the stuff from the burning smoke pellets can give me an astma attack. If it can effect one person it can effect others and I know a fair few lrpers who have asthma let alone the mirriad of other health problems out there.
